SVHC offers On The Road To Managing Your Diabetes, an interactive approach to learning how to control your diabetes. This comprehensive course combines all of the previous educational offerings previously offered at SVHC. And it has been certified by the American Diabetes Association.
The course covers everything you need to know:
- Diets
- Exercise
- Carb counting
- Monitoring
- Insulin dosages and common medications
- More
Classes are taught in a fun-filled, group setting. with a new concept of Conversational Maps that lets each participant play a role in discovering the best vehicles for taking control of his or her journey. Using giant board games, similar to Candyland or Monopoly, participants get to deal with real-life situations in a safe, comfortable setting. Learn more about the Conversation Maps
Participants may attend two 4-hours sessions or one 8-hour session. A physician's referral and patient assessment are required for the class. Fees can be paid through Medicare, private insurance or self pay; most insurances provide coverage.
