Starting Aug. 24, 2009, two of Jacksonville's leading healthcare providers -- St. Vincent's HealthCare and Brooks Health System -- have come together to offer a unique skilled nursing unit located within St. Luke's Hospital. The innovative sub-acute rehabilitation program, the first of its kind in Jacksonville, is designed to serve the needs of the community and is available for patients at all area hospitals.
A positive state of mind speeds up recovery and planners say that the newly renovated wing, with a vibrant, active environment featuring private patient rooms and a pleasant private dining room will help meet the goal for every patient to return home safely and to recover successfully.
Fully Loaded
Some of the perks offered in the Skilled Nursing Unit is the fully wired advancements to help patients stay connected to family and friends. Along WIFI access and light weight laptops, patients and visitors can watch their favorite movies using the Netflix accounts provided.
Upon admission, each patient receives an MP3 player to support their therapy with education, exercise instruction and motivating music. They also have access the Wii Fit system as a part of their therapy.
