Future COO For St. Luke's Hospital

Michael Holmes assumed new role January 22

Michael D. Holmes has been named the Chief Operating Officer for
St. Luke's Hospital when St. Vincent's HealthCare begins operations there in April 2008. Holmes is currently the interim Chief Operating Officer at Mount Carmel West in Columbus, Ohio. He assumed his new role on Jan. 22, 2007.

Holmes will begin now to lead the transition of St. Luke's Hospital from its current operation by Mayo Clinic Jacksonville through the change to
St. Vincent's. That change will occur in April 2008 upon completion of Mayo Clinic's new hospital on the Mayo Clinic campus. Holmes will oversee the change and serve as St. Luke's Hospital's chief administrator and will be responsible for all day-to-day operations of the 175-bed hospital.

"I'm excited to join the St. Luke's St. Vincent's team and become a resident of Jacksonville," Holmes said. "I look forward to creating a team of current and future St. Luke's physicians and staff to transition services from Mayo as well as grow and offer additional services, and further integrate with the St. Vincent's family. I'm really excited to meet with the existing medical staff as well as recruit new physicians to continue to grow St. Luke's services," he said.

Holmes has served as interim COO and Vice President of Operations at Mount Carmel West since 2003, where he led multiple Six Sigma teams and other improvement projects that resulted in more than $60 million in improved revenues and savings. He also spent a year as an interim Chief Executive Officer for Fayette County Memorial Hospital, a rural hospital managed by Mount Carmel Health System hospital in Ohio. Holmes served as Vice President of Care Continuum Businesses for Mount Carmel from 1995 to 2002, and as Director of Decision Support and Community Affairs for Saint Joseph's Care Group, a member of Trinity Health in South Bend, IN, where he also worked as Director of Neuromedical Services.
