Nov. 13, 2007, Jacksonville, FL – St. Vincent’s HealthCare continues to build a staff for St. Luke’s Hospital in preparation for April 12, 2008, when Florida’s oldest, private hospital will become part of the St. Vincent’s HealthCare system. Today, executives announced the hiring of four individuals into future director positions: Crystal Culbertson, Director of Surgical Services; Diana Moses, Director of Medical, Surgical and Women’s Services; William Schoepfer, Director of Medical Imaging; and Christine Smith, Director of Critical Care and Cardiovascular Services.
Crystal Culbertson is currently the Nurse Manager for Outpatient Services at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, a position she has held since July 2003. As St. Luke’s Director of Surgical Services, Culbertson will be responsible for the allocation and utilization of resources needed to provide patient care in Surgical Services and for leadership support of the surgical patient care plan.
Culbertson joined St. Vincent’s in 1992 as an operating room nurse. In 1998 she was promoted to Clinical Coordinator for Urology, Plastic Surgery and Ancillary Staff. In 2003, she was again promoted into her current position.
Culbertson earned her nursing degree in 1987 from Ohio Valley General Hospital School of Nursing in Wheeling, W.Va. From the University of St. Francis in Ft. Wayne, Ind., she earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Arts in 2000 and a Master of Science in Health Service Administration in 2003.
Diana Moses is currently the Nurse Manager of Maternal-Child Services at St. Luke’s Family Birth Place, a position she has held twice, currently since April 2005 and from January 2000- June 2001. As St. Luke’s Director of Medical, Surgical and Women’s Services, Moses will be responsible for the allocation of resources to promote efficient, effective and compassionate care within these areas and ensuring the coordination of activities within these areas.
Moses first joined St. Luke’s nursing staff in 1996 in maternal-child services and was promoted to Nurse Manager the first time in 2000. In 2001 she left St. Luke’s to work as a traveling registered nurse for Cross Country TravCorps headquartered in Boca Raton, Fla. and Malden, Mass. She returned to St. Luke’s Family Birth Place in 2003 and in 2005 was again promoted to Nurse Manager.
Moses earned an Associate in Nursing degree from Harrisburg Area Community College in Harrisburg, Pa. in 1984 and began her nursing career working in pediatrics at Nemours Children’s Clinic in Jacksonville. She has also worked in neonatal intensive care at Baptist Medical Center and Memorial Medical Center, both in Jacksonville. She is currently enrolled in the RN-MSN program at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.
William Schoepfer is currently a CT technologist at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, a position he has held since 2005. As St. Luke’s Director of Medical Imaging, Schoepfer will lead and administer the medical imaging functions of the hospital to ensure compliance with all regulatory and accrediting agency requirements and hospital policies. He will also develop and administer processes to ensure effective operation of all imaging modalities and ensure effectiveness of medical imaging information management and information technology support systems.
Prior to joining St. Vincent’s, Schoepfer was Radiology Manager at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in Patchogue, N.Y. from 2002-2005. From 1993- 2002, he was Manager of Cardiac Research/Preventive Imaging at St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn, N.Y.
Schoepfer is a 1981 graduate of the Veterans Administration Medical Center School of Radiology in Northpoint, N.Y. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Administration in 1984 from St. Joseph’s College in Patchogue, N.Y. and a Masters in Business Administration in 2005 from Dowling College in Oakdale, N.Y.
Christine Smith is currently a Nursing Manager of two Medical/Surgical/Telemetry units and one Critical Care Unit at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, a position she has held since 1995. As St. Luke’s Director of Critical Care and Cardiovascular Services she will be responsible for the allocation of resources needed to promote efficient, effective and compassionate care within these areas and ensuring the coordination of activities within these areas.
She joined St. Vincent’s in March 1993 as a registered nurse and was promoted to Nursing Manager in September 1995. Prior to joining St. Vincent’s Medical Center she worked at Broward General Medical Center in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. from 1991-1993.
Smith earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1991 from Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Fla. She is currently enrolled in the Master of Science, Nursing Program at Jacksonville University.
