July 19, 2007, Jacksonville, FL -- Cedric Terrell, Pharm.D., has been named the future Pharmacy Manager for St. Luke’s Hospital, St. Vincent’s HealthCare executives announced today. Dr. Terrell is currently the Pharmacy Clinical Coordinator for St. Vincent’s Medical Center.
Dr. Terrell will assume his new position August 6, 2007 when he will begin the transition for all areas of planning and development, quality control and operations of the St. Luke’s pharmacy. St. Vincent’s will assume operations at St. Luke’s Hospital in April 2008, when Mayo Clinic moves into its new facility at its San Pablo Campus.
“I’m excited that Cedric has decided to join the future St. Luke’s management team,” said Michael Holmes, the future Chief Operating Officer of St. Luke’s. “Cedric brings a high level of competence and experience. Combined with his sense of mission and community, I believe Cedric will help us as we give St. Luke’s back to the community.”
Dr. Terrell has been with St. Vincent’s Medical Center since 2000, serving first as an emergency medicine specialist and then an internal medicine specialist before his promotion to Pharmacy Clinical Coordinator for the medical center in 2003. Numerous responsibilities in his current position include: planning, developing and implementing clinical pharmacy programs for the medical center; developing and supervising therapeutic drug monitoring programs; optimizing drug selection and therapy for specialized patient populations; and conducting annual drug utilization evaluations and quality improvement operations. In addition, he serves as the coordinator for the medical center’s Pharmacy Practice Residency Program and was instrumental in gaining accreditation for the program from the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
Dr. Terrell is Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice for Florida A&M University, Palm Beach Atlantic University, NOVA Southeastern University, and University of Florida Colleges of Pharmacy. He earned his Pharm.D at Florida A&M University College of Pharmacy and completed his internship in Pharmacy Practice at multiple medical centers in Jacksonville, Florida.
Dr. Terrell is currently a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and Florida Society of Health-System Pharmacists. He has lectured on topics related to chronic kidney disease, venous thromboembolism, and laboratory medicine, as well as other areas related to pharmacy practice. He is also active in the community as a mentor for the “Tipping the Scales” Job Readiness and Mentoring program affiliated with Kesler Mentoring Connection and the Bridge of Northeast Florida, Inc.
