St. Luke's Family Birth Place Undergoes $1M Renovation

Sept. 16, 2008, Jacksonville, FL – The Family Birth Place at St. Luke’s Hospital is undergoing a $1M renovation to enrich the birthing experience for women and their loved ones. From the time an expectant mother enters the FBP she and her family will enjoy beautiful waiting areas and patient rooms, with new flooring, wall coverings and cabinets suggestive of warm and inviting spa. A new vending area will be conveniently located just off the main family waiting room.

St. Luke's introduced the labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum room(LDRP) concept to Jacksonville mothers in early 1997. The popular concept, which allows an expectant mom to experience her entire, normal birthing experience in the same room, was quickly adopted by other local hospitals. Before the concept was introduced, it was common for a  woman to be moved to as many as four rooms during her childbirth experience.

"St. Luke’s is committed to improving healthcare services for the women of our community," says St. Luke's Administrator Randy Hartley. "The expert care that has made St. Luke's Family Birth Place the birth place of choice for thousands of expectant mothers and their families will be delivered in a beautifully updated facility."

Renovations will be completed in Dec. 2008.
